Difference between herbivores, carnivores, predators, etc?

herbivores and carnivores describe what an animal eats. herbs eat plants, carns eat meat, and omnivores eat both. predator and scavenger describe how an animal gets its food. predators kill while scavengers eat remains left by predators. generally, predators and scavengers are carnivores.
