Christians why did god make the food chain, when it causes animals pain, if hes all loving and powerful?

Why did god make carnivores have to kill animals and why did he make their prey die in slow and painful ways? Why did god create suffering? There is a difference between animals and plants, its consciousness and a fully developed central nervous system, but even then, why did he have to make animals kill at all?
